The Center
The Cystic Fibrosis Center in Verona is a multispecialty facility of the Veneto Region, set up in accordance with national legislation (Law 548/1993: regional management of cystic fibrosis). Housed within the Verona City Hospital Trust, the Center has a comprehensive remit: diagnosis, long-term management and treatment of cystic fibrosis, as well as other rare diseases of the respiratory, digestive and immune systems. Its main activities include experimental and clinical research programmes, development of organisational models and training of specialist staff, together with detailed planning of neonatal screening and genetic counselling.
A priority of the Verona Cystic Fibrosis Center is collaboration with major stakeholders (Centers of Excellence worldwide, Patient Associations, national and international Scientific Societies), to implement multicentre research programmes and participate in a variety of initiatives. The aim of these activities is to enhance knowledge of the disease, treatment options and patients’ quality of life.
The results of this work undergo in-house quality control, detailed patient satisfaction surveys and external evaluations.
