Neonatal Screening

The service provides cystic fibrosis screening for all newborns in the Veneto and Trentino Alto Adige regions (over 50,000 births per year). This is done by a multi-level system, comprising immunoreactive trypsinogen analysis, CFTR gene mutation analysis, meconial lactase determination and sweat testing.

Laboratory analyses are done at the hospital’s Molecular Pathology Laboratory (Head: Dr Alberto Bonizzato).
